Dear Fellow Supporters of Sustainability,
As you know, the comment period for the IFRS Foundation’s Trustees “Consultation Paper on Sustainability Reporting” closed on December 31, 2020. This paper proposes that the IFRS Foundation establish a ‘Sustainability Standards Board (SSB)” to sit alongside the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). Prior to the closing of the consultation, Richard Barker, George Serafeim, and I wrote in support of it: “The Future of Sustainability Is…Accounting?” Not surprisingly, this generated a great deal of interest. the Some 550 comment letters have been posted on their website. Appendix I below is a sample list.
